Managing SSO users before and after iThenticate 2.0 upgrade

This guide helps you manage the migration and approval of users with single sign-on (SSO) access before and after upgrading to iThenticate 2.0.

In this guide:

Email addresses must be accurate for all migrated users. For security, verify email addresses before approving single sign-on (SSO) users. Anyone who logs in to iThenticate 2.0 with your organization’s SSO credentials can access data that was migrated from your previous version of iThenticate.

Before upgrade: verify user email addresses

If a valid email is not provided when configuring SSO in iThenticate v1, an inactive (for example, @example.com) email address is generated as a placeholder. If your account contains any users with placeholders for their email address, follow these steps in the order they are listed before upgrading:

  1. We will provide a list of users with placeholder email addresses.
  2. Configure your IdP to send Turnitin the email addresses for all users you wish to migrate to iThenticate 2.0.
  3. Log in to iThenticate v1 and update the impacted user accounts with correct email addresses.

After upgrade: SSO users awaiting approval

After migration is complete, you will need to approve users for SSO. To view the list of users awaiting approval for SSO, select Users from the Main Menu sidebar and choose Approve SSO users.

To download the list, select the Bulk Download button above the table.

Approve a single user

To approve a single user, select the three-dots menu on the right and select Approve. You may also copy the user’s email address or Deactivate the user from here.

Approve multiple users

  1. To approve multiple users, select the checkbox to the left of each user you are ready to approve.
  2. Select Approve above the list.
  3. You may also approve the entire list at once by selecting the Approve All button.

Deactivate multiple users

Select the checkbox to the left of each user you plan to deactivate, then choose Deactivate to move the selected users to the Deactivated users list.

Your organization’s SSO login

Your organization has a unique URL that is a direct link to login via SSO. You can share this link with anyone you have approved for SSO. The URL is displayed in the top right corner of the screen.

Selecting the Copy link button will copy the URL to your clipboard.

Where an organization has a redirect URL set, users who are not SSO users and want to access their data will need to login via their unique subdomain and not via the SSO URL. Customers will have to manage this internally within their organization and make the subdomain available to whoever needs it internally.
