Upgrade process
The process to upgrade to iThenticate 2.0 happens in three simple stages: Pre-migration, Migration, and Post-migration.
Pre-Migration
First, you will inform your Turnitin representative that you would like to upgrade to iThenticate 2.0. Turnitin will then provision a “Migration Setup Account” for your institution.
Within the Migration Setup Account, you will select the date for the upgrade to 2.0 to occur. Then, you can explore the new features of iThenticate 2.0 by adding users and testing submissions.
From the day your Migration Setup Account is created, you will have 60 days to schedule your preferred migration date. If no date is selected, your account will be upgraded automatically after 60 days (with advanced notice). Learn more in our iThenticate Administrator FAQ.
Migration
Your institution should plan for a period of 24 hours of downtime on the day of the migration. Your institution’s access to iThenticate v1 (and the Migration Setup Account) ends on this day.
On the day selected for the upgrade to occur, the migration tool will move the following from iThenticate v1 to your new 2.0 account:
- Accounts
- Users/User Groups
- Submissions
- Similarity Reports
- Folders
We recommend scheduling the migration during a low usage period and notifying all users of the upcoming migration and expected downtime. To notify users of the upcoming migration, use our iThenticate v1 to 2.0 migration email templates for administrators.
Post-migration
When the migration has been completed successfully, all users will receive an automated “Welcome to iThenticate” email to access their 2.0 accounts. Simply log in to access the enhanced iThenticate experience.
